ಮುಂಬೈ: ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲದ ಅನಾರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಬಾಲಿವುಡ್ ಹಿರಿಯ ನಟ ಶಶಿಕಪೂರ್ (79) ಇಂದು ನಿಧನರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಮುಂಬೈನ ಕೋಕಿಲಾಬೆನ್ ಧೀರೂಭಾಯ್ ಅಂಬಾನಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ಆನಾರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಿಂದ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದ್ದ ಶಶಿಕಪೂರ್ ಇಂದು ಸಂಜೆ 5.20 ರ ವೇಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರು ದೃಢಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಸಿನಿಮಾ ರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಇವರು ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಸಾಧನೆಯನ್ನ ಗುರುತಿಸಿ ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಇವರಿಗೆ 2011 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಪದ್ಮಭೂಷಣ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಅಲ್ಲದೇ 2015 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿತ್ರರಂಗದ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ದಾದಾ ಸಾಹೇಬ್ ಫಾಲ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪಡೆಯುವ ಮೂಲಕ ತಮ್ಮ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪಡೆದ ಮೂರನೇ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಗ್ಗಳಿಗೆ ಪಾತ್ರರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
ಬಾಲ್ಯ ನಟರಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆ ಪೃಥ್ವಿರಾಜ್ ಕಪೂರ್ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಿನಿಮಾ ರಂಗಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಪಡೆದ ಇವರು, `ದೀವಾರ್’ (1975), `ಸತ್ಯಂ ಶಿವಂ ಸುಂದರಂ’ (1978), `ಜುನೂನ್’ (1978), `ಶಾನ್’ (1980) ಮತ್ತು 1982 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಯಾದ `ನಮಕ್ ಹಲಾಲ್’ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ 110 ಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಸಿನಿಮಾಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಟಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
1978 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಪೃಥ್ವಿ ಥಿಯೇಟರ್ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ ಶಶಿಕಪೂರ್ ಹಾಲಿವುಡ್ ನಟಿ ಜೆನ್ನಿಫರ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಇವರಿಗೆ ಸಂಜನಾ, ಕುನಾಲ್ ಮತ್ತು ಕರಣ್ ಎಂಬ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಶಶಿಕಪೂರ್ ಅವರ ನಿಧನಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ಮೋದಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವು ಗಣ್ಯರು ಸಂತಾಪ ಸೂಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
