ನವದೆಹಲಿ: ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿ ಭವನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಸಮಾರಂಭಗಳಿಗೆ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿ ರಾಮನಾಥ ಕೋವಿಂದ್ರವರು ಪೂರ್ಣ ವಿರಾಮ ಹಾಕಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿ ಭವನವು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಕಟ್ಟಡವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಗೂ ಸೇರಿದ ಸ್ವತ್ತು. ಕೇವಲ ಯಾವುದೋ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಸಮಾರಂಭದಿಂದಾಗ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿ ಭವನಕ್ಕೆ ಧಕ್ಕೆಯಾಗಬಾರದು. ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳಿಗೆ ತೆರಿಗೆದಾರರಿಂದ ಸಂಗ್ರಹವಾದ ಹಣ ಖರ್ಚಾಗಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ, ರಂಜಾನ್ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಇಫ್ತಾರ್ ಕೂಟವನ್ನು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿ ರಾಮನಾಥ ಕೋವಿಂದ್ರವರು ರದ್ದುಗೊಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿಗಳ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಆಶೋಕ್ ಮಲ್ಲಿಕ್ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ತೆರಿಗೆದಾರರ ಹಣ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗಬಾರದು ಎನ್ನುವ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿ ಭವನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಸಭೆ-ಸಮಾರಂಭಗಳನ್ನು ರದ್ದುಗೊಳಿಸಲು ರಾಮನಾಥ ಕೋವಿಂಧ್ರವರು ತೀರ್ಮಾನ ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೇ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿಯವರು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಹಬ್ಬಗಳ ದಿನದಂದು ಜನತೆಗೆ ಶುಭಕೋರಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಅಶೋಕ್ ಮಲ್ಲಿಕ್ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಎಪಿಜೆ ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಕಲಾಂ ಹೊರತುಪಡಿಸಿ ಎಲ್ಲ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿಗಳ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಫ್ತಾರ್ ಕೂಟ ಆಯೋಜನೆ ಆಗುತಿತ್ತು. 2002ರಿಂದ 2007ರವರೆಗೆ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಎಪಿಜೆ ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಕಲಾಂ ಇಫ್ತಾರ್ ಕೂಟವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕಲಾಂರ ನಂತರ ಬಂದ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿಗಳಾದ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾ ಪಾಟೀಲ್ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಣಬ್ ಮುಖರ್ಜಿಯವರು ಈ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯವನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರೆಸಿಕೊಂಡೇ ಬಂದಿದ್ದರು.
ದೀಪಾವಳಿ ವೇಳೆ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿ ಭವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಣ್ಣ ಬಣ್ಣದ ದೀಪಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ರಾಮನಾಥ್ ಕೋವಿಂದ್ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿಯಾಗಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿದ ಬಳಿಕ ಎಲ್ಲ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಹಬ್ಬಗಳ ಆಚರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಕೈ ಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು, 2017ರಲ್ಲಿ ದೀಪಾವಳಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ಮಸ್ ಆಚರಣೆ ಮಾಡಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

President's Estate has religious institutions, such as a temple, a gurudwara and a masjid, erected by and for residents. On major festive occasions, the President does visit these to wish people. For example, he recently visited the masjid to mark the holy month of Ramzan 3/3
