ವಾಷಿಂಗ್ಟನ್: ಸುಮಾರು 99 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ನಂತರ ಇದೇ ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಅಮೆರಿಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಸೂರ್ಯಗ್ರಹಣ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿತು. ಶತಮಾನದ ಗ್ರಹಣದಿಂದ ಅಮೆರಿಕದಲ್ಲಿ 3 ನಿಮಿಷ ಹಗಲಲ್ಲೇ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಕತ್ತಲು ಕವಿದಿತ್ತು.
ಚಂದ್ರನು ಹಂತ ಹಂತವಾಗಿ ಸೂರ್ಯನನ್ನು ಆವರಿಸುವ ಪರಿ ನೋಡುಗರನ್ನು ವಿಸ್ಮಯಗೊಳಿಸಿತು. ನಂತರ ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಪ್ರಭಾವಳಿಯಿಂದ ಚಂದ್ರನು ಹಿಂದೆ ಸರಿಯುವ ಪರಿಯೂ ತೀವ್ರ ಕುತೂಹಲ ಕೆರಳಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಅರ್ಧ ಚಂದ್ರಾಕೃತಿ, ವಜ್ರದುಂಗುರವನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸುವ ರೀತಿ ಬೆಳಕು ನೆರಳಿನಾಟ ಅದ್ಭುತವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯಿತು.
ದಿ ಗ್ರೇಟ್ ಅಮೆರಿಕನ್ ಎಕ್ಲಿಪ್ಸ್ ಎಂದೇ ಬಣ್ಣಿಸಲಾಗಿರುವ ಈ ಖಗೋಳ ಕೌತುಕವನ್ನು ಅಮೆರಿಕನ್ನರು ಕಣ್ತುಂಬಿಕೊಂಡ್ರು. ಅಮೆರಿಕದ ಒರಾಗನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ 10 ಗಂಟೆಯಿಂದ ಮೂರು ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಸೂರ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಚಂದ್ರ ಆವರಿಸಿದ್ದ. ಇನ್ನು ಗ್ರಹಣ ವೀಕ್ಷಣೆಗಾಗಿ ವಿವಿಧ ನಗರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶೇಷ ಶಿಬಿರಗಳನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಮಕ್ಕಳು, ಹಿರಿಯರು, ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ವಿಶೇಷ ಕನ್ನಡಕ ಧರಿಸಿ ಗ್ರಹಣ ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ್ರು.
ಅಮೆರಿಕ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಡೊನಾಲ್ಡ್ ಟ್ರಂಪ್ ಗ್ಲಾಸ್ ಧರಿಸಿದೇ ಬರಿಗಣ್ಣಿನಿಂದ ಸೂರ್ಯಗ್ರಹಣ ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ಮುಂದಾಗಿದ್ದು ಸುದ್ದಿಯಾಯ್ತು.
