ನವದೆಹಲಿ: ಪದ್ಮವಿಭೂಷಣ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ವಿಜೇತ, ಹಿರಿಯ ವಕೀಲ, ಮಾಜಿ ಅಟಾರ್ನಿ ಜನರಲ್ ಸೋಲಿ ಜೆಹಾಂಗಿರ್ ಸೊರಬ್ಜಿ (91) ಕೊರೊನಾಗೆ ಬಲಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಕೊರೊನಾ ಸೋಂಕು ದೃಢಪಟ್ಟ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೊರಬ್ಜಿ ಅವರು ದೆಹಲಿಯ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಇಂದು ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಫಲಕಾರಿಯಾಗದೆ ನಿಧನರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

1930ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂಬೈನಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿರುವ ಸೊರಬ್ಜಿ 1953ರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಂಬೆ ಹೈಕೋರ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಕೀಲ ವೃತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ನಂತರ 1971ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಪ್ರೀಂ ಕೋರ್ಟ್ ನ ಹಿರಿಯ ಕೌನ್ಸಿಲ್ ಆಗಿ ಪದೋನ್ನತಿ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದರು. 1989-90ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿ ಅಟಾರ್ನಿ ಜನರಲ್ ಆಗಿ ನೇಮಕಗೊಂಡರು. 1998-2000ರ ವರೆಗೆ ಅವರು ಭಾರತದ ಅಟಾರ್ನಿ ಜನರಲ್ ಆಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

2002ರ ಮಾರ್ಚ್ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸೊರಬ್ಜಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪದ್ಮವಿಭೂಷಣ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಸದ್ಯ ಸೊರಬ್ಜಿ ನಿಧನಕ್ಕೆ ಗಣ್ಯಾತಿಗಣ್ಯರು ಕಂಬನಿ ಮಿಡಿದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
