ವಾಷಿಂಗ್ಟನ್: ಅಮೆರಿಕದ ಮಾಜಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಜಾರ್ಜ್ ಎಚ್.ಡಬ್ಲ್ಯು ಬುಷ್ (94) ಶುಕ್ರವಾರ ರಾತ್ರಿ ನಿಧನರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಬುಷ್ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ವಕ್ತಾರ ಜಿಮ್ಮ್ಯಾಗ್ರಥ್ ಟ್ವೀಟ್ ಮೂಲಕ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಬುಷ್ ಅವರು ಅಮೆರಿಕದ 41ನೇ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ 1989ರಿಂದ 1993ರವರೆಗೆ ಆಡಳಿತ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದರು. ಕಳೆದ ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಬುಷ್ ಅವರ ಪತ್ನಿ ಬಾರ್ಬರಾ ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು. ಪತ್ನಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಬಾರ್ಬರಾ ನಿಧನದಿಂದ ಶಾಕ್ ಒಳಗಾಗಿ ಅನಾರೋಗ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ತುತ್ತಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಬುಷ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ಹೂಸ್ಟನ್ ಮೆಥೋಡಿಸ್ಟ್ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಕೊಡಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಫಲಕಾರಿಯಾಗದೆ ನಿನ್ನೆ ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬುಷ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಐದು ಮಕ್ಕಳು, 17 ಮೊಮ್ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಇದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಎರಡನೇ ಮಹಾಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಬುಷ್ ಅವರು ಎದುರಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ಮೂಲಕ ಅವರು ಹೀರೋ ಎಂದೇ ಕರೆಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಬಳಿಕ ಅಮೆರಿಕ-ರಷ್ಯಾ ನಡುವಿನ ಶೀತಲ ಸಮರದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಿತವಾಗಿ ಮುನ್ನಡೆಸಿದರು. 1991ರ ಗಲ್ಫ್ ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲೂ ಅಮೆರಿಕ ಯಶಸ್ಸು ಕಾಣಲು ಬುಷ್ ಕಾರಣರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
ಜಾರ್ಜ್ ಎಚ್.ಡಬ್ಲ್ಯು ಬುಷ್ ಅವರು 1993ರ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಡೆಮಾಕ್ರಟಿಕ್ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಬಿಲ್ ಕ್ಲಿಂಟನ್ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಸೋತಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಕ್ಲಿಂಟನ್ ಅಧಿಕಾರದ ಬಳಿಕ ಬುಷ್ ಪುತ್ರ ಜಾರ್ಜ್ ಡಬ್ಲ್ಯು ಬುಷ್ 43ನೇ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
