ತಿರುವನಂತಪುರಂ: ಶಬರಿಮಲೆ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಮೆಟ್ಟಿಲು ಏರಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲು ಹೊರಟಿದ್ದ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಅರ್ಚಕರ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆಯ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಗುಲ ಪ್ರವೇಶದಿಂದ ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಸುಪ್ರೀಂ ಕೋರ್ಟ್ ಅನುಮತಿ ನೀಡಿದ ಬೆನ್ನಲ್ಲೇ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತೆ ಕವಿತಾ ಜಕ್ಕಲ್ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಿಳಾ ಹೋರಾಟಗಾರ್ತಿ ರಹನಾ ಫಾತಿಮಾ ಪೊಲೀಸರ ಭದ್ರತೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೆಲ್ಮೆಟ್ ಧರಿಸಿ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಲು ಮುಂದಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಕಾಲ್ನಡಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವಾಲಯದತ್ತ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ ಭಕ್ತರಿಂದ ಭಾರೀ ವಿರೋಧ ವ್ಯಕ್ತವಾಗಿತ್ತು.
ವಿರೋಧದ ನಡುವೆಯೂ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿಯೇ ಸಿದ್ಧ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಮುನ್ನುಗ್ಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅಯ್ಯಪ್ಪ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ದೇಗುಲದ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಅರ್ಚಕರು ಮಹಿಳೆಯರ ಪ್ರವೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರೋಧ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಪವಿತ್ರ 18 ಮೆಟ್ಟಿಲುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಯ್ಯಪ್ಪ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಭಕ್ತರು ಕುಳಿತು ನಾವು ಸಾವನ್ನಪ್ಪಿದರೂ ಸರಿಯೇ ಮೆಟ್ಟಿಲ ಮೂಲಕ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಲು ಬಿಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಪಟ್ಟು ಹಿಡಿದು ಕುಳಿತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.

ದೇವಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ 500 ಮೀಟರ್ ದೂರ ಇದ್ದಾಗ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಅರ್ಚಕರು ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ದೇವಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದರೆ ನಾವು ಪೂಜೆ ಮಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲದೇ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಗರ್ಭಗುಡಿಯ ದ್ವಾರವನ್ನೇ ಬಂದ್ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂದು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯ ಬೆನ್ನಲ್ಲೇ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ದೇವಾಲಯ ಪ್ರವೇಶದಿಂದ ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಕೈ ಮೀರಿ ಹೋಗುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಅರಿತ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ವರಿಷ್ಠಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಕಚೇರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಧಾನ ನಡೆಸಿ ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಗುಲ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಬೇಡ ಎಂದು ಮನವಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಪೊಲೀಸರ ಮನವಿಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ದೇವಾಲಯ ಪ್ರವೇಶದಿಂದ ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿದರು.
ನಾವು ಪ್ರಾಣದ ಹಂಗನ್ನು ತೊರೆದು ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಭದ್ರತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಒಂದು ಬಾರಿ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಪ್ರವೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಅನುಮತಿ ನೀಡಿ ಎಂದು ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಮನವಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು.
