ಒಂದು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಕಾಂಪ್ರಮೈಸ್ ಮಾಡ್ಕೋ ಎಂದ ನಿರ್ಮಾಪಕ- ಜಾಣತನ ಮೆರೆದ ನಟಿ

ಮುಂಬೈ: ಒಂದು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಕಾಂಪ್ರಮೈಸ್ ಮಾಡಿಕೋ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ ನಿರ್ಮಾಪಕನಿಗೆ ಮರಾಠಿ ಚಿತ್ರದ ನಟಿ ಶ್ರುತಿ ಮರಾಠೆ ಜಾಣತನದ ಉತ್ತರ ನೀಡಿದ್ದು, ಈಗ ಎಲ್ಲರ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆಗೆ ಪಾತ್ರರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಹ್ಯುಮನ್ಸ್ ಆಫ್ ಮುಂಬೈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ನಟಿ ಶ್ರುತಿ, ಚಿತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಆಡಿಶನ್ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಆದಂತಹ ಕಾಸ್ಟಿಂಗ್ ಕೌಚ್ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಿರ್ಮಾಪಕ ಮಾಡಿದ ಇಂಟರ್ ವ್ಯೂವ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರುತಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ವೇಳೆ ನಿರ್ಮಾಪಕ, “ಕಾಂಪ್ರಮೈಸ್”, ಹಾಗೂ “ಒಂದು ರಾತ್ರಿ” ಎಂಬ ಪದಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಲು ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು.

ನಿರ್ಮಾಪಕನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡ ಶ್ರುತಿ, ಈ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಬಿಡದೆ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಜೊತೆ ಮಲಗಬೇಕೆಂದರೆ, ನೀವು ನಾಯಕ ನಟನನ್ನು ಯಾರ ಜೊತೆ ಮಲಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀರಾ? ಎಂದು ಮರುಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಕೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಶ್ರುತಿ  ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ನಿರ್ಮಾಪಕ ದಂಗಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

ನಿರ್ಮಾಪಕನ ಜೊತೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ನಂತರ ಶ್ರುತಿ, ಈ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬಳಿಕ ಚಿತ್ರತಂಡ ಆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರದಿಂದ ಹೊರ ನಡೆಯಲು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆ ದಿನ ನಾನು ಧೈರ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಇರಲು ನನಗೆ ಒಂದು ನಿಮಿಷ ಸಾಕಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆ ದಿನ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಒಬ್ಬಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಧ್ವನಿ ಎತ್ತಿಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನಾನು ಪ್ರತಿ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರಿಗಾಗಿ ಧ್ವತಿ ಎತ್ತಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನಟಿ ಶ್ರುತಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಶ್ರುತಿ ಮರಾಠಯ ‘ತಪ್ತಪದಿ’ ಹಾಗೂ ‘ರಾಮಾ ಮಾಧವ್’ ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಟಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಬಾಲಿವುಡ್‍ನಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಬುದಿಯಾ ಸಿಂಗ್- ಬಾರ್ನ್ ಟು ರನ್’ ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಭಿನಯಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲದೇ ‘ರಾಧಾ ಕಿ ಬಾವರಿ’ ಹಾಗೂ ‘ಲಗ್ನಬಾಮಬಲ್’ ಟಿವಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

People have a misconception that actors lead a comfortable life & always feel good about themselves–that’s not true. Years later when I gained popularity in a Marathi show, people looked me up & stumbled upon the bikini scene. I was trolled for the way I looked & how it was shot. Do you know how much that damages your self-esteem? I put myself out there without any barriers–but I wasn’t accepted; I was objectified. I still continued working as if it didn’t bother me. But I had a dream. I’d worked so hard & was finally moving forward, I wasn’t going to let it go–just because someone else had a problem, they weren’t in my shoes & would never know what it felt like. Slowly, I made myself tougher. Once I met a producer who’d offered me a lead role. At first he was professional, but soon he began using the words, ‘compromise’ & ‘one night’. I couldn’t let this slip so I asked him, ‘If you want me to sleep with you, who are you making the hero sleep with?’ He was stunned. I immediately informed others of his behaviour & they asked him to leave the project. All it took was one minute of being fearless–that day, I didn’t just stand up for me… I stood up for every woman who’s been objectified & judged for simply being who she is; for simply being ambitious. Why should the archaic rules of society & today’s so-called modern world stop me?
