ಟೆಲ್ ಅವೀವ್: ಇಸ್ರೇಲ್ ಪ್ರವಾಸದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ನರೇಂದ್ರ ಮೋದಿ ಅವರು ಗುರುವಾರ ಉಪ್ಪುನೀರಿನ ಶುದ್ಧೀಕರಣ ಘಟಕವನ್ನು ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದರು.
ಪ್ರವಾಸದ ಕೊನೆಯ ದಿನ ಮೋದಿ ಅವರು ಡೋರ್ ಬೀಚ್ ಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ ಸಮುದ್ರ ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ಉಪ್ಪಿನಂಶ ತೆಗೆಯುವ ಘಟಕವನ್ನು ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಸ್ರೇಲ್ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ಬೆಂಜಮಿನ್ ನೇತಾನ್ಯಾಹು ಜೊತೆಗಿದ್ದರು.
ಇಬ್ಬರು ನಾಯಕರು ಸಮುದ್ರ ದಂಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಇದಾದ ಬಳಿಕ ಎರಡೂ ದೇಶದ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿಗಳು ಶುದ್ಧೀಕರಿಸಿದ ಸಮುದ್ರದ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದರು.
ಸಮುದ್ರ ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ಉಪ್ಪಿನಂಶ ತೆಗೆದು ಅದನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಾಗಿ ಪರಿವರ್ತಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ Desalination ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. 2005ರಲ್ಲಿ ಇಸ್ರೇಲ್ ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ಘಟಕವನ್ನು ತೆರೆದಿದೆ. ಇಂದು ಇಸ್ರೇಲ್ ಶೇ.40ರಷ್ಟು ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಿಗೆ ಸಮುದ್ರವನ್ನೇ ನೆಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ.
ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಅಮೆರಿಕ, ಸಿಂಗಾಪುರ, ಸೌದಿ ಅರೇಬಿಯಾ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ವಿವಿಧ ದೇಶಗಳು ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ಘಟಕಗಳು ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.
