ಮುಂಬೈ: ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಲವು ಅಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಮಟ್ಟ ಹಾಕಿ ಹೆಸರು ಗಳಿಸಿದ್ದ ದಕ್ಷ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಹಿಮಾಂಶ್ ರಾಯ್ ಶುಕ್ರವಾರ ತಮ್ಮ ನಿವಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಆತ್ಮಹತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ನಗರದ ಮಲಬಾರ್ ಹಿಲ್ಸ್ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತಮ್ಮ ನಿವಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ ಸರ್ವಿಸ್ ರಿವಾಲ್ವಾರ್ ನಿಂದ ಗುಂಡು ಹಾರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಆತ್ಮಹತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ತನಿಖೆಯಿಂದ ತಿಳಿದು ಬಂದಿದೆ.
ತೀವ್ರ ರಕ್ತಸ್ರಾವದಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅವರನ್ನು ತಕ್ಷಣ ಸಮೀಪದ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ಸಾಗಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಆದರೆ, ದಾರಿಯ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಅವರು ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ವೈದ್ಯರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ, ಶವವನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇರಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಿಗಿ ಭದ್ರತೆ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ರಾಯ್ ಅವರು 1988ರ ಬ್ಯಾಚ್ ಐಪಿಎಸ್ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ಭಯೋತ್ಪಾದಕ ನಿಗ್ರಹ ದಳದ (ಎಟಿಎಸ್) ಮಾಜಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. 2013ರ ಇಂಡಿಯನ್ ಪ್ರೀಮಿಯರ್ ಲೀಗ್ ಸ್ಪಾಟ್ ಫಿಕ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಹಗರಣ, 2012ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ವಕೀಲೆ ಪಲ್ಲವಿ ಪುಕರ್ಯಾಸ್ತ ಮತ್ತು ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಮಯಿ ಡೇ ಹತ್ಯೆ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವು ಪ್ರಕರಣಗಳ ತನಿಖೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದರು.

ಕಳೆದ 2 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ನಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅವರು ಕೆಲ ತಿಂಗಳಿನಿಂದ ದೀರ್ಘ ರಜೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ಕೊಠಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ 1 ಪುಟದ ಸೂಸೈಡ್ ನೋಟ್ ಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಆತ್ಮಹತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲದೇ ನನ್ನ ಸಾವಿಗೆ ಯಾರೂ ಕಾರಣರಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಬರೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
