ನವದೆಹಲಿ: ರಿಯೋ ಒಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ಸ್ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ಪದಕ ವಿಜೇತೆ, ವಿಶ್ವದ ಐದನೇ ಶ್ರೇಯಾಂಕದ ಪಿ.ವಿ ಸಿಂಧು ಇಂದು ದೆಹಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಇಂಡಿಯಾ ಓಪನ್ ಸೂಪರ್ ಸಿರೀಸ್ ಬ್ಯಾಡ್ಮಿಂಟನ್ ಟೂರ್ನಿಯ ಫೈನಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ ಚಾಂಪಿಯನ್, ಮೂರನೇ ಶ್ರೇಯಾಂಕದ ಸ್ಪೇನ್ನ ಕ್ಯಾರೋಲಿನಾ ಮರಿನ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ನೇರ ಸೆಟ್ ಗಳಿಂದ ಸೋಲಿಸಿ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಗೆದ್ದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
21- 19 ಅಂಕಗಳಿಂದ ಮೊದಲ ಸೆಟ್ ಜಯಿಸಿದ ಬಳಿಕ ಎರಡನೇ ಸೆಟ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಂಧು 4-0 ಅಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ಆರಂಭಿಕ ಮುನ್ನಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಮರಿನಾ ತೀವ್ರ ಪೈಪೋಟಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದ್ದು ಸತತವಾಗಿ ವೇಗದ ತಮ್ಮ ಶೈಲಿಯ ಅತಿ ವೇಗದ ಸ್ಮ್ಯಾಶ್ ಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಅಂಕಗಳನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಯಶ್ವಸಿಯಾದರು. ಆದರೆ ಸಿಂಧು ತಮ್ಮ ನೇರ ಸ್ಮ್ಯಾಶ್ಗಳನ್ನು ಮರಿನಾ ಕಡೆ ನೆಟ್ ಕ್ಲೋಸ್ ಬಾರಿಸುವ 20-16 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮುನ್ನಡೆ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದರು.
ನಿರ್ಣಾಯಕ ಗೇಮ್ನ ಆರಂಭದಿಂದಲೇ ಮುನ್ನಡೆ ಕಾಯ್ದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದ ಸಿಂಧು ಕೊನೆಯ ತನಕವೂ ಎದುರಾಳಿಗೆ ಮೇಲುಗೈ ಸಾಧಿಸಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸದೇ ಮುನ್ನುಗ್ಗಿ ಜಯಭೇರಿ ಬಾರಿಸಿದರು.
ಮೊದಲ ಪಂದ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ 21-19 ಮತ್ತು ಎರಡನೇ ಪಂದ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ 21-16ರ ಸೆಟ್ಗಳ ನೇರ ಅಂತರಗಳಿಂದ ಗೆಲವು ಸಾಧಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಿಂಧು ಇಂಡಿಯಾ ಓಪನ್ ಸೂಪರ್ ಸಿರೀಸ್ ಬ್ಯಾಡ್ಮಿಂಟನ್ ಟೂರ್ನಿಯ ಕಿರೀಟವನ್ನು ಮುಡಿಗೇರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು.
ಇಂದಿನ ಪಂದ್ಯ ಸೇರಿ ಸಿಂಧು ಮತ್ತು ಮರಿನ್ 9 ಬಾರಿ ಮುಖಾಮುಖಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಸಿಂಧು 4 ಬಾರಿ ಜಯಗಳಿಸಿದ್ದರೆ, 5 ಬಾರಿ ಮರೀನ್ ಗೆದ್ದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ರಿಯೋ ಫೈನಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಿನ್ಗೆ ಶರಣಾಗಿ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಗೆ ತೃಪ್ತಿಪಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಸಿಂಧು ದುಬೈ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಕೂಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಿನ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ನೇರ ಗೇಮ್ಗಳಿಂದ ಸೋಲಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
