ಕಂಚಿ ಜಗದ್ಗುರು ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಯೇಂದ್ರ ಸರಸ್ವತಿ ವಿಧಿವಶ

ಚೆನ್ನೈ: ಕಂಚಿ ಪೀಠದ ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯ ಜಯೇಂದ್ರ ಸರಸ್ವತಿ ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿ ಇಂದು ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನ ಕಂಚೀಪುರಂನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಧನ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

82 ವರ್ಷದ ಕಂಚಿಶ್ರೀಯವರು ಉಸಿರಾಟದ ತೊಂದರೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಕಳೆದ ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ಆವರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಹದಗೆಟ್ಟಿತ್ತು. ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿಯವರು ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಜನವರಿ ತಿಂಗಳಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿ ಡಿಸ್ಚಾರ್ಜ್ ಕೂಡ ಆಗಿದ್ದರು. ಆ ಬಳಿಕ ಅವರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಹದಗೆಡುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿತ್ತು.

ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರು 8ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ ಪೀಠಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಚಿ ಪೀಠ ಕೂಡಾ ಒಂದು. 1994ರಲ್ಲಿ ಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರ ಸರಸ್ವತಿ ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿಯವರ ಉತ್ತರಾಧಿಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ, ಮಠದ 69ನೇ ಪೀಠಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾಗಿ ಜಯೇಂದ್ರ ಸರಸ್ವತಿ ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿದ್ದು, ದೇಶಾದ್ಯಂತ ಅಸಂಖ್ಯಾತ ಭಕ್ತರನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು.

ಕಂಚಿ ವರದರಾಜ ಪೆರುಮಾಳ್ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಮ್ಯಾನೇಜರ್ ಕೊಲೆ ಪ್ರಕರಣದಲ್ಲಿ 2004ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿಯ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಬಳಿಕ 2013ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಇತರೆ 22 ಜನರ ಮೇಲಿದ್ದ ಆರೋಪವನ್ನ ತೆರವುಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.

ಸ್ವಾಮೀಜಿ ನಿಧನಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ಮೋದಿ, ಉಪರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿ ವೆಂಕಯ್ಯ ನಾಯ್ಡು ಹಾಗೂ ಹಣಕಾಸು ಸಚಿವ ಅರುಣ್ ಜೇಟ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತಿತರ ಗಣ್ಯರು ಸಂತಾಪ ಸೂಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
